This past Friday Penny Arcade launched the website for Child's Play 2006, the 4th annual gaming charity fundraiser that aims to supply children's hospitals around the world with gaming goodness. Set up in response to the media painting gamers and gaming as degenerates, over the past three years the program has raised over a million dollars in toys, games, and cash.
What Tycho and Gabe have done with Child's Play since its original inception is nothing short of amazing. Originally benefiting one Seattle Children's Hospital, they are now working with hospitals in Canada, Australia, England, and even Egypt. I try to give a bit every year, at least during the years that I could. The outpouring of support by gamers around the globe warms even my cold, bitter heart, making me proud to be counted as one of them.
