Is it or isn't it? Tipsters have been writing in, saying their local GameStop/EB Games say Wii pre-orders start this Friday morning. Some have heard otherwise—that they won't start until Friday. Go Nintendo hit up their local GameStop and can now confirm that Wii pre-orders will start this Friday at GameStop/EB Games. Go Nintendo even got their hot little hands on the company confirmation email that pretty much settles all doubts. The email reads:

We need to be consistent with our store opening times in order to insure that all customers are given a fair opportunity to line up and reserve their system. All stores will open at their NORMAL opening time on Friday, 10-13-06, for their Wii reservation custoemrs. Do not host 'mightnight' or 'early openings' for the Wii reservation program. If you do arrive at your store and have a line already assembled, you should let your customers know that you will fill their reservations in order once you open. You should also let your customers know how many units you have to reserve so that your customers at the back of the line don't feel compelled to wait if units won't be available.

Some stores say they are not taking Wii pre-orders, but this appears to be a nationwide dealio. Looks like Friday's gonna be an early one for many of you! Brian Ashcraft
