Is This The Wii Virtual Console Launch List?

According to fan site Play-Nintendo it is. They claim their "trustworthy source" informed them that the service will launch with 26 classic titles, representing a healthy cross section of games from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Genesis and Turbografx.

Here are the first ten from the supposed list.

    1. Bonk's Adventure
    2. Castlevania
    3. Duck Hunt
    4. Excitebike
    5. F-Zero
    6. Kid Icarus
    7. Legend of Zelda, The
    8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    9. Mario Kart 64
    10. Metroid

Really no surprises here, with the exception of Mario Kart 64. Junior analysis and rumor smashing, along with the rest of the list, after the jump.

    11. Mortal Kombat
    12. New Adventure Island
    13. Ninja Gaiden
    14. OutRun
    15. Pac-Man
    16. Prince of Persia
    17. Punch-Out!!
    18. R-Type
    19. Rayman 2
    20. Sonic the Hedgehog
    21. Star Fox
    22. Super Mario 64
    23. Super Mario Bros
    24. Super Mario Kart
    25. Super Mario World
    26. Tecmo Bowl

While some of the entries seem a little dull (Mortal Kombat? The SNES port? Zzzzz...), its a solid line-up. The first thing that seems a little suspect is the inclusion of both Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario Kart. That seems like a bit of karting overkill from my perspective.

It also seems a little light on Sega content, something that seems like a selling point over something like Rayman 2 or R-Type. While I'm interested in both titles, they seem a bit out of place. The other thing that makes me doubt this list is how good Nintendo is at keeping information exactly like this under wraps until their ready to reveal said details.

My judgment? Bullshit! Wait for Thursday and see if my suspicions are misplaced.
