This Gen Will be a Close One, Says Eidos Exec

The PlayStation 2 won the last generation, hands down. It wasn't even close. Back at E3 in 2005, when Sony announced its new console, it seemed like that the new PlayStation would be crowned victor once again. But the landscape has changed—Microsoft and Nintendo both offer gamers something unique and different from Sony. Eidos big wig Ian Livingstone says this generation will be different:

It's going to be a much closer race and significantly, I think Nintendo, with the Wii console, is going to be right back up in the thick of it. It's quite interesting that they've decided not to go head-to-head with Microsoft and Sony, with the high quality interactive cinematic action adventure games; they've gone for gameplay over graphics instead. I think that's quite an interesting move and it could be very successful for them.

Livingstone should know, he's old. And red.
