Even the Master Chief can't fight forever, so what comes next for Bungie after they've knocked our socks off in Halo 3? Rumor has it that it'll be announced at European Xbox event X06 and Spong muses that while it won't be Halo 4, it may very well be a trilogy set in the same universe.

For the record, SPOnG has heard that Halo 3 will be last game in the current Halo Trilogy. Another trilogy, likely a prequel, will be announced at some point in the next 12 months. Nothing solid on that yet, though we'll keep chipping away at the leaky places and let you know as soon as we hear more.

You don't have to have two nostrils crammed with heroin to see that as reasonable. After all, Halo is a sort of sequel to the entire Marathon trilogy... the Master Chief even wears a more advanced version of the same armor. A prequel bridging Halo and Marathon would really be quite within Bungie's modus operandi. Florian Eckhardt
