Boy, Crysis sure is pretty. And it's going to take some serious hardware to get the most out of it. My 3 year old PC isn't up to handling the original Far Cry, so when EA and Crytek's Crysis finally ships, I'll in the PC minimum requirements ghetto. Most people who are into this PC gaming racket want to know, "Is my machine going to be able to handle it?". Dunno. Neither Crytek nor EA (that's Electronic Arts, just so there's no confusion) have released official specs for the game.
But a fan site did. About a week ago. And they're unofficial. You might have seen these hefty requirements popping up at other sites:
Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP
Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX10 with Windows Vista
Unfortunately, some folks might have missed the original post, with the following qualifiers: "Here are the current speculated specs which can be found in the Information Center on this site." before and "The above specs are simply speculation, but I've put in at least a few hours researching to get the requirments down to how they are at the moment." after. In other words, this is one man's (probably very well informed) best guess.
So put that credit card away, kids, and hold tight until EA and/or the Crytek team publish some real specs.
