Games site FiringSquad has a peculiarly winkyface-filled interview with Fun com project director J rgen Tharaldsen. Funcon is responsible for the cyberpunk MMORPG Anarchy Online, which I only played during the beta stage. I quit because the NPCs were able to punch me in the face from 500 feet away.
In an article dotted with screenshots of Frazetta-esque landscapes and fearsome moose, Theraldson goes into detail about the most barbaric MMO of all time:
Drunken brawling is a hilarious, unique and very "Conanesque" PvP form where every player, regardless of their level, can fight it out in the bars and taverns of the world. Your fighting ability here depends on how much you drink, and what you drink. The more you drink the more pain you are able to endure, but the less chance you have of hitting! So it gives the word binge drinking a whole new meaning, and it's quite unlike any PvP action you have seen before ;)
I dunno, that sounds like the meaning that "binge drinking" has had all along. All joking (and moose) aside, the screenshots look mighty pretty and I'll be interested to give this one a whirl. As long as there's a feature where I can stand on a pile of PvP corpses with a fantastically bodacious barbarian wench draped over my ankles.
