NickMade games has put together a 3D-rendered rendition of Super Mario Brothers for the NES. Looks like they just yoinked the graphics and mapped them onto some simple models and let 'er rip.

Super Mario Bros 2.5D is a remake of the classic, Super Mario Bros... in 3D. How can you remake a 2D game in 3D? Add depth! Defeat enemies as Mario in a whole new way with 3D views and 3D graphics!

So I downloaded it and played for about thirty seconds. Aside from being hideously ugly, the game is sorta floaty-feeling. None of the snappiness of the original. And the levels are not identical, either. This is a cute idea, but needs some serious work. Eliza Gauger
