As the virtual and the real continue to collide, a Pennsylvania lawyer is suing the publisher of the MMO Second Life for unfairly confiscating virtual property. Wired News reports that attorney Marc Bragg's account was shut down by the game's developer Linden Lab. The reason? Linden halted Bragg's account after he figured out a legit way to purchase land at below-market rates via an online Second Life auction. "They completely froze my account, which is a real problem, (and prevented) me from withdrawing about a million Lindens that they wouldn't allow me to exchange," he said. (One US dollar equals about 309 Lindens.) And Bragg being a lawyer, did what lawyers do and is now taking the company to court for $8,000 in a first-of-its-kind lawsuit. Wonder what our columnist James Wagner Au makes of this whole mess. James? The floor is yours.
