There's a track back thread over at Nintendo-Inside, which provides good insight into how the Japanese are responding. There's a fair share of Wii haters, but the name does have a lot of supporters. The links reveal quotes that range from "On release date, all the consumers can shout 'weeeeeee'!" to "Isn't the name too short?" to "Yuck, yuck, yuck, it's not going to sell" or "If only they'd kept the code name." So, is the reaction different? The word "cute" appears more, and "urine" appears less.

Good to know, but we're about ready to stop going on and on about it.
