Portrait of Ruin Scans, Details Galore

portraitofruin.jpgOkay, so the new Castlevania game is subtitled Portrait of Ruin not Portal of Ruin. With the implied announcement that the new DS game will feature esbian vampire sisters, they could have called this one Castlevania: Mary Kate And Ashley Make-Out as far as we're concerned.

But in our confusion — brows feverishly oozing as the grey matter below fantasized about Simon Belmont vs. Lipstick Lesbian Vampires — we didn't notice that the new Castlevania is actually one of the first games since Symphony of the Night to eschew a musically connotative subtitle. (Thanks to "That Guy" for the correction!) And thanks to the dudes at Jeux France, passed along by our secret lovers at 4CR, we now have some explanation on why that is:

We've been using musical terms for subtitles recently, like Symphony of the night," Iga reminds us. "But when you think of major art forms, the other one that comes to mind is painting. So I thought, why don't we try something with paintings for this new project?" You'll find Brauner's works hanging throughout the castle, but they serve as much more than just elegant decoration. Each one can transport you to a different locale, from the deserts of Egypt to a London inspired city called Mistry Town.

    Snazzy! There's scans too!
