MTV has an article on the recent addition of weather to World of Warcraft. It has some interesting insights into the design decisions behind the rainstorms, snowstorms, and sandstorms that have been hitting various in-game areas. Most puzzling however, is this quote: "[Lead designer] Kaplan has seen gamer requests for rain that isn't just cosmetic but has the effect of rusting armor and muddling travel."
What? Who are these people? Are they the same ones who asked for more homework in grade school? Does Warcraft not have enough running from zone to zone, so that some people want to slow things down further? I think these people should be revealed, so that if a big snowstorm shuts down the griffon flights and I'm stuck in Ironforge for a three-day weekend, I know who to blame and can ostracize them appropriately.
