Lik-Sang muses over a recent poll conducted by Famitsu Wave DVD magazine in Japan; 113 retailers, 47 developers and 370 gamers were asked about their gaming predictions for 2006, and while some of the results were pretty predictable, some are quite shocking, such as the PSP being at the bottom of the "Overall Top Platform" list - even beaten by the Xbox 360!

The poll numbers are a healthy cut, so it's unlikely that the results are non-representative.

Overall top platform of 2006 (Gamer's pick)

1. PS3 - 40.3%
2. DS - 32.6%
3. PS2 - 11.8%
4. Revolution - 11.5%
5. Xbox 360 - 2.5%
6. PSP - 0.3%

Pretty unexpected, that.
