I'm the kind of guy who buys a game, plays through it once or twice, then sells it on Amazon Marketplace. Most of the time I get a good price. But other times I don't, or Amazon won't let me sell titles that have been recently released.
That's why I'm intrigued by iTradeVideoGames.com. The idea is, you sell your used games on the site and receive a virtual currency called iBucks (which, as I gather from the site, corresponds roughly to the U.S. dollar). You then use your iBucks to buy other games through the site. In essence, it's a bartering exchange with the iBucks acting as the trading medium. Because iBucks trades pretty close to an actual dollar, you get fair market value for your used goods, the site claims.
I looked through the site today and didn't see many titles available for exchange. It's probably because the site is new. And I'm a little hesitant that you only get iBucks instead of real bucks. Still, I'm curious how this business does.
If anyone out there has tried these guys, please tell us about your experience on the message boards.
