I am totally lovin' the "Hot Mario" campaign that's running here in Japan. Manzai combi Ninety-Nine are hilarious as Mario and Luigi. Saw their latest ad today for Mario Kart WiFi in which the comedian Okamura (Mario) dresses as an American, a Frenchman and an Italian.
Sure, it's just an opportunity for Okamura to do funny impressions, but here's the odd thing: At the end of the ad, Okamura as Mario returns, dragging a suitcase and says to Luigi, "I'm home." Does that mean Mario visited all these countries and impersonated different nationalities so that he could play Luigi? If so, then why did he dress up as an Italian? This has been bugging me all morning. (Yes, I know that Mario is not a real person and from the Mushroom Kingdom as well as the fact that Okamura is not really Mario, but this still irks the snot out of me.)
They've also got an ad for their Nintendo DS Wi-Fi spots. Site's in Japanese, but click on the links that say "Wi-Fi" below the TV to watch the ads.
