IGN has up what I believe to be is the first movie review for Doom: The Movie. Unfortunately, it reads like it was written by an apologist and not someone who was interested in handing out a level-handed review of the movie. Chris Carle leads off by saying Doom is "easily the best videogame-to-film adaptation yet ... and a decent albeit standard action film if taken with a grain of salt." Then he proceeds to dismantle the movie. Doom has, according to Carle, thin character development, cheesy dialogue, a lack of story and is a movie that isn't "about" acting.
And this is the best movie based on a video game? I can't believe that. Of course, I haven't seen Doom yet, so I'm going to have to reserve judgment.
