The International Game Developers Association has formed a sex special interest group to promote responsible development, labeling and age-appropriate content. The group embraces sex and sexuality as a natural, healthy and positive force in our lives and in the games we make.
It s good to see the game industry finally taking this issue on in a serious way and making the sort of arguments about sexual content that should have been made when legislators starting calling for government intervention into the rating system.
Sexual content is, of course, found in all forms of media, from Homer's Odyssey and The Iliad to movies like The Graduate, Sideways and even Shakespeare in Love. It is a valid storytelling mechanic and central to the human experience.
The special interest group even has its own sexy blog.
