Even if Sony is your best friend in the whole world (with pinkie swears and all that), this might make you suspicious. On the Japanese firmware 2.0 upgrade website there is a warning that the update is for Japanese PSPs only. Why is that? The site never specifies.
The folks over at PSP Vault were reasonably curious: Would this upgrade turn non-Japanese PSPs to toast? Or are they keeping the 2.0 perks for themselves? PSP Vault tested the upgrade and found relatively few problems, disproving the fear that it could change one's PSP region to Japan. They even found that past updates have been exactly the same for both country's PSPs.
So why all the fuss? The Vault guesses to build hype and that American customer service reps haven't been trained yet in 2.0. My guess is full of global domination schemes; but I thought the same thing of Sesame Street, so nevermind me.
