An update is headed to Guild Wars and despite the fact that NCSoft plans to make most of their money by charging for new content, it will be free. The massively multiplayer online RPG doesn t charge a monthly fee, instead NC Soft has said they will sell expansion packs for the game.

But the free update won t be just about tweaks, it will apparently include two new areas, new monsters, new monsters and a cool new Guild tournament system. The new system will allow spectators to watch the guild battles.

The update will apparently be huge, but download while you are playing. Sweet!

If you ve got tons of money burning holes in your pockets, don t worry NC Soft is still planning on releasing their first expansion pack in 2006 and you will have to pay if you want to play it.
