GamePro has the first screen shots and look at the upcoming Age of Empires 3. The game will take place in the New World from 1500 A.D. to 1850 A.D. Players will get to choose between eight different countries, which each nation getting its own perks.

The game seems to gloss over most of the more gruesome bits of American colonization. Apparently, the Native Americans are not so much a peoples to be exploited and killed off with pox-infected blankets as they are partners in your war against the other countries. I'm a little uncomfortable with this revisionism, but if it's done with a light touch, I suppose it can't do too much harm.
