You read it here first, Reuters is now confirming what Kotaku reported Monday: Sony has scrapped their pre-E3 showing of the Playstation 3.

Sources told me last week that travel plans to Japan were being scrapped left and right, and that many thought it was likely because the big PS3 unveiling had been canned.

Reuters Japan reported today that Sony has confirmed the cancellation.

Sony told Reuters that the decision to cancel was based on worries that a March PS3 meeting would pressure game publishers and not that they were falling behind in development.

Sony added that they still intend to unveil the machine at E3 at the latest, leaving open the possibility of some other early unveiling between now and then.
