The noisy wheel gets the grease, and the lazy pixel gets the boot. After a few days of panicky Playstation Portable owners thinking they were going to have to suck it up and just ignore the dead pixels littered on the fancy screens of their handhelds, Sony announced they were just jerking our chains.
Sony initially claimed that since the screwy pixels are problems common with all LCD screens, it wasn't really defective. But then they apparently realized just how full of shit they were and decided to offer a replacement if the pixel problem continued to bother gamers.
Nintendo's been doing it for their DS, so it stands to reason the Sony should also offer the free replacement.
