A little more detail has surfaced on the whole ESA-president-is-a-Nazi thing. Turns out CBS News received a little pressure from the ESA in a phone call that may or may not have included the choice word: defamatory.

Now, I'm not one to stand up for ideals, but shouldn't CBS News stop and think for a second before they start trimming away at the freedom of speech. I'm the last person to defend Jack Thompson. I've made it no secret that I think he is a braying jackass (actually I own the T-shirt), but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have the right to spout off and thereby fashion his own rope necklace.

I tried to reach the ESA and CBS News writer William Vitka, but one declined to comment and the other hasn't gotten back to me.

So to summarize: Cutting out chunks of an already published article is bad. Thompson is a braying jackass.
