It
s official: EA is the Anti-Christ. Just minutes ago, friendly neighborhood reader shot me a link to Gamespot
s hot-off-the-press story that Electronic Arts has signed an exclusive 15-year deal with ESPN. That
s right—first they bought the NFL right out from under Sega, and then they went back, bitch-slapped them, and took ESPN too. This has gotta drive Sega right out of the sport
s market. I don
t see how they can recover from losing both the NFL rights and the title of their well-established sports game line.
Not only could this spell the end of Sega, but CNN points out that it will also likely mean the end of the Madden franchise, something long rumored.
EA Signs Deal [Gamespot, thanks Nick]
